After talking to some amazing business people this last week I wanted to put together a post of the most common questions. If you have a question that was not answered please feel free to send an email to [email protected] or add a comment, and someone will get back to you with an answer.

Why should I invest in selling to the government?

I am sure that you noticed that I said invest, and there is a reason for that. Selling to any level of the government is not something that easy or for the faint of heart. It can be frustrating and require a lot of planning, but it can be a great tool to help your business grow.

Can I make a business of just selling to the government?

Sure, it is possible, but it is much easier if you already have a product, or service that you are already selling to other customers.

What does the government buy?

The government has the need to buy just about EVERYTHING! Whether it be at some form of local government or the federal government I have probable seen a solicitation for what you sell. My whole business started from a solicitation for sate fair souvenir cups. I have seen everything from cleaning products to farm machinery and crops.

How do I know if they are buying what I am selling?

Start with checking sam.gov, this is where most federal solicitations are posted. You can either browse and see what you find, or if you do not want to waste time you can find the federal supply class (FSC) that your business falls under, and search by that.

Is there a way to sell to my local government?

Yep, whether you want to sell at the city, county, or state level they all have a biding process, and probably a different web page and process. Shoot us an email for specific markets [email protected]
